Last checked: October 31, 2026. Suspension, earnings-hold and dispute rules from the public OnlyFans Terms of Use, plus the changes reported from 1 November 2026.
Seeing "under review," "suspended," or frozen earnings on OnlyFans is alarming. OnlyFans' Terms of Service (last updated August 2024) set out when OnlyFans can pause your page, withhold Creator Earnings and, in some cases, treat earnings as forfeited. This guide walks through what those Terms say, how appeals and complaints differ, and what to do first.
We read the public OnlyFans Terms of Service page on October 28, 2026 and re-checked it on October 31, 2026. It still shows Last updated: August 2024. Creators are also being asked to accept a rewritten Terms version that is reported to apply from 1 November 2026 (see below). We also checked the Creator Center on the OnlyFans blog. Anything we couldn't confirm on the public Terms page is labelled commonly reported. Policies change, so please check the official site, the version shown at your login, and the notice OnlyFans sent you.

What "Under Review," "Suspended" And "Deleted" Usually Mean
OnlyFans' Terms don't define "under review" as a separate status. Creators commonly use that phrase when payouts are held or the account is locked while OnlyFans investigates. The Terms talk instead about actions OnlyFans may take:
- Suspend or delete your account and/or Content
- Pause Fan Payments that would have been due during the suspension period
- Withhold any part of your Creator Earnings
- Suspend, refund or cancel Fan Payments
Those powers sit in Section 14 of the public August 2024 Terms of Use. "Deleted" ends the account. "Suspended" or "under review" usually means a temporary restriction during a check. Use OnlyFans' notice as the source of truth for your case.
This is different from a failed signup. For ID or banking refusals before you're live, see OnlyFans verification rejected.
Why OnlyFans Suspends Accounts
Reasons Named In The Terms
Section 14 says OnlyFans may act without warning, for as long as needed to review the facts, if:
- It thinks you have or may have seriously or repeatedly breached the Terms of Service
- You attempt or threaten to breach the Terms in a way that could have serious consequences for OnlyFans or another User
- It suspects that all or any part of your Creator Earnings result from unlawful or fraudulent activity, by you or by the Fan who paid
Other Terms clauses can also lead to restrictions:
- Tax non-compliance. Section 11 says if you become tax non-compliant in connection with OnlyFans, or you're named in related litigation or an inquiry, OnlyFans may close the account or restrict payouts or earnings. Failure to meet tax obligations "may result in your OnlyFans account being closed or suspended."
- Co-authored Content. If someone else appears in explicit Content and you don't provide the tags, ID and consent documents OnlyFans asks for, it may restrict or delete that Content or your account, and/or withhold Creator Earnings (Section 16).
- Liens and levies. If a lien, levy or other encumbrance is placed on your Creator Earnings, OnlyFans may withhold earnings and suspend or cancel Fan Payments until it's removed (Section 14).
- Bad-faith chargebacks (Fans). For Fan accounts, unjustified refund or chargeback requests made in bad faith can lead to suspension or deletion (Section 9).
Content That Commonly Triggers Removal
The OnlyFans Creator Center lists the most common reasons Content is removed. Those removals can escalate to account action if the problem is serious or repeated:
- Someone whose age can't be verified as 18+
- Someone who is 18+ but pretending to be under 18 (including role play)
- Content that's illegal where you live or where it was filmed
- Real blood, or content considered violent or extreme
- Sexually explicit Content without all participants tagged, or without the required documents
- Nudity in a public place where the general public is present
- Nudity around animals
- Real weapons, illegal drugs, or objects used in unintended ways
The Creator Center says: "If we find content that doesn't align with our policies, we may have to deactivate your account temporarily or permanently."

Under the public Terms, a review can pause Fan Payments and withhold earnings, and the six-month dispute clock starts when OnlyFans Notifies you. Generic illustration.
Terms Changes Reported From 1 November 2026
As of October 31, 2026, the public Terms page still shows Last updated: August 2024. Press reports (including the St. Louis Riverfront Times, 6 October 2026) and our OnlyFans fees and payouts guide say creators are accepting a rewritten version at login, due to apply from 1 November 2026. Until OnlyFans posts that text publicly, treat the points below as commonly reported and read the copy at your own login.
- Lower bar for holds. August 2024: act if you "seriously or repeatedly" breached. Reported November 2026: "has or may have breached."
- Two new triggers. Conduct "reasonably likely to cause" loss or reputational harm; and not promptly providing information OnlyFans asks for.
- Disputes in writing. Still six months to dispute; reported wording requires the dispute in writing.
- Notice. Reports say the line that OnlyFans would try to Notify you of suspensions or deletions is gone; a statement of reasons after review remains.
Reports say the 20% fee, 30 days' Notice closure for any reason, and your responsibility for anyone who assists on your account are unchanged. After 1 November 2026, the login Terms are the binding text.
What Happens To Your Money
This is the part most creators worry about. Under Section 14, while OnlyFans reviews the facts it may:
- Pause Fan Payments that would have been due during the suspension
- Withhold any part of your Creator Earnings
- Suspend, refund or cancel Fan Payments
If the review finds a serious or repeated breach, a threatened serious breach, or unlawful or fraudulent earnings, OnlyFans may also:
- Delete your account and/or Content
- Treat any part of your Creator Earnings as forfeited
- Refund or cancel Fan Payments
OnlyFans also says it may use any part of your Creator Earnings to set off harm or loss it suffers from your breach of the Terms.
That does not mean every suspended account loses its balance. It means the Terms allow withholding during a review and forfeiture after a finding. Keep payout confirmations, Statements screenshots and OnlyFans emails. See our fees and payouts guide (linked above) for how payouts work when the account is healthy.
Tax reporting does not pause. US creators may still owe tax on income already earned. Form 1099-NEC uses a $2,000 IRS threshold for payments made in 2026 ($600 before 2026). Income can be taxable without a form. This isn't tax advice.
How To Dispute: Appeals vs Complaints
The Terms draw a clear line between two dispute routes:
- Account termination or Content deactivation → follow the Appeals Policy
- Creator Earnings forfeiture → follow the Complaints Policy

Pick the dispute path that matches your notice: Appeals for account or Content decisions, Complaints for forfeited earnings. Generic illustration, not legal advice.
If you don't dispute within six months of Notification, you waive the right to dispute. The clock starts when OnlyFans Notifies you, which the Terms define as a message to your OnlyFans account, an email, a letter, or a text or call to a number you provided.
The Appeals Policy is part of the Terms package. Its full Transparency Center page often sits behind a login, so treat the form steps below as commonly reported and confirm them on the official site:
- A Deactivation Appeal Form is the usual path
- Forms typically need your account URL or username, any Content URL, and reasons why the account or Content complies with the Terms
- OnlyFans may ask for more documents; outcomes are commonly grant, grant in part, or deny
- Published Appeals language commonly says OnlyFans isn't liable for lost earnings or subscribers even if it grants the appeal
For earnings forfeiture, use the Complaints Policy, not the Appeals form. Name the decision in your first sentence. EU/EEA users may have extra options under local law; that isn't legal advice.
What To Do In The First 48 Hours
- Read the notice carefully. Screenshot it. Note the date. That's your six-month start.
- Don't create a second account to "work around" the review. The Terms require you to follow the Appeals or Complaints path. Trying to dodge a review is commonly reported to make things worse.
- Gather evidence. Your own Statements, payout records, collaborator consent and ID documents, and any messages that show you complied with co-author rules.
- Reply only through official channels. Use the contact paths OnlyFans names (support email and Contact Form in the Terms). Watch for impostors. Fake "appeals agents" who ask for your password, remote access or an upfront fee are scams. The FTC's guide to recognizing and avoiding phishing scams is a solid refresher, and our OnlyFans scams guide covers patterns aimed at creators. Under the reported November 2026 Terms, ignoring a real information request from OnlyFans can itself trigger a hold, so don't leave official messages unread.
- Pick the right policy. Account or Content decision → Appeals. Earnings forfeiture → Complaints. Reported November 2026 wording says disputes must be in writing.
- Stay factual. Quote the notice, explain how your Content or account meets the Terms, and attach documents. Skip threats and insults.
- Protect what's still public. If Content was copied or leaked while the account was locked, start watermark checks and takedown notes as soon as you regain access.
How To Lower The Risk Of Suspension
No checklist removes every risk, but the Terms and Creator Center point to clear habits:
- Tag and verify every person in explicit Content, and keep written consent and ID on file
- Don't post Content that pretends anyone is under 18, even as role play
- Avoid public nudity, weapons, illegal drugs and extreme or bloody Content
- Keep tax filings current if you're earning on the platform
- Don't share login access with agencies or chatters you haven't vetted; you're still responsible for everything posted from your account (Section 8). Our guide to OnlyFans chatters covers the risks and a safer setup
- Use official support only. Anyone offering to "unsuspend" your account for a fee is a red flag
Frequently Asked Questions
Why was my OnlyFans account suspended?
Under the public August 2024 Terms, OnlyFans may suspend without warning while it reviews suspected serious or repeated breaches, threatened serious breaches, or unlawful or fraudulent earnings. Reported November 2026 wording widens that to "has or may have breached," plus new triggers for reputational harm and ignored information requests. Content that breaks the Creator Center's moderation rules, missing co-author documents, tax issues and liens can also lead to restrictions. Check the statement of reasons in OnlyFans' notice.
Can OnlyFans freeze my earnings?
Yes. Section 14 of the Terms says OnlyFans may withhold any part of your Creator Earnings and pause Fan Payments during a review. After a finding, it may treat earnings as forfeited and refund or cancel Fan Payments. Dispute an earnings forfeiture under the Complaints Policy, not the Appeals Policy.
How do I appeal an OnlyFans suspension?
For account termination or Content deactivation, the Terms say to follow the Appeals Policy. For Creator Earnings forfeiture, follow the Complaints Policy. You have six months from Notification. Reported November 2026 wording says the dispute must be in writing. The Deactivation Appeal Form steps are commonly reported on OnlyFans' Appeals Policy page; confirm the current form and the Terms version at your login.
How long does an OnlyFans review take?
OnlyFans' Terms don't set a fixed number of days. They say OnlyFans may act "for as long as is necessary to review the relevant facts." Keep records and use the six-month dispute window rather than waiting forever in silence.
Will I get my subscribers back if my appeal is granted?
Not necessarily. Published Appeals Policy language commonly says OnlyFans isn't liable for interruption of access, including lost earnings or subscribers, even when it grants an appeal. Confirm that wording on the official Appeals Policy page.
Is a failed verification the same as a suspension?
No. Verification problems happen before you're approved as a creator. Suspension or review happens to an account that's already live. Use our verification rejected guide for signup issues, and this guide for post-approval account actions.
Final Thoughts
An OnlyFans suspension is stressful, but it isn't a mystery box. The Terms say when OnlyFans can pause your account and withhold earnings, how long you have to dispute a decision, and which policy covers account actions versus forfeited money. Save the notice, gather proof, use the official Appeals or Complaints path within six months, and ignore anyone who offers a paid shortcut. Check the official site and the notice OnlyFans sent you for the latest wording.
